The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 is not postponed yet. The GATE exam will be conducted on February 5, 6, 12 and 13 as per schedule. GATE aspirants were confused by an old notification regarding the postponement of exams.
The old notification that went viral on social media says that the health and safety of candidates are the top priority. Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, all dates will be changed.
This viral notification creates confusion among candidates who were protesting about a delay in the exam. However, the notification was an old one and has been there on the website since the announcement of the dates of the exam.
IIT Kharagpur said, “No, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is not postponed. At least not yet. The exams will be conducted as per schedule.”
This old notification went viral after GATE aspirants have been demanding the postponement of the exam due to the spike in Covid-19 across the country.
Over 24,000 Gate aspirants had earlier started an online petition demanding a postponement of the exams. Several candidates took to social media with the hashtag #postponegate2022 to highlight the demand for the postponement of exams.
The reason behind demanding the postponement of exams is the ongoing Covid-19 situation, travelling and reaching the exam centre and the Covid-19 restrictions across states.
