Trump was banned from social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook following the Capitol riots on January 6 which caused multiple casualties. Social media platforms that banned Trump cited fears that his online activity could incite further violence. Trump’s senior aide Jason Miller noted that the shutdown of his current blog could be a precursor to Trump joining a new social media platform. However, the details he shared with news agencies are scarce. “It was just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on,” Mille told Reuters. “I'm hoping to have more information on the broader efforts soon, but I do not have a precise awareness of timing,” he added.
Reddit is exploring biometric verification methods such as Face ID and Touch ID to ensure users are real humans, not bots, while pledging to maintain the platform's tradition of anonymity.
