Former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy appeals for peaceful Shobha Yatra

Following the incidents of stone pelting during the shobha yatra in Mulbagal city, former Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy has appealed to people to take out processions in a peaceful manner.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy urged everyone to conduct peaceful shobha yatras on the occasion of Rama Navami. Following the incidents of stone pelting during the shobha yatra in Mulbagal city, Kumaraswamy called for people to take out processions in a peaceful manner, ensuring communal harmony.

In a series of tweets, HD Kumaraswamy said that the peace of other communities should not be disturbed by taking out the procession.

“Please do not disturb the peace of other communities by taking out processions with DJ sets and deliberately stopping for 15-20 minutes in front of places of worship of other communities. This will disrupt harmony,” Kumaraswamy said.

The former Karnataka chief minister said, “People from a particular community are now observing the month of fasting. I appeal to all Deputy Commissioners and police authorities to not allow people to disturb the peace of other communities in the name of shobha yatras.”

“My appeal is to hold the shobha yatras in streets and layouts where Hindus reside. If half an hour is not enough, stop your procession there for one hour. I will support this. Let us all worship Rama by not disturbing communal harmony,” Kumaraswamy said on Sunday.
