
Forest officials rescue baby elephant struggling amid flood waters in the Nilgiris

Forest officials on watch duty in the Mavanalla area were informed about an elephant calf that was trapped in the flood and was struggling to free itself.
The Nilgiris range in Tamil Nadu is a safe haven for several elephants, but due to continuous rain in the area, flooding has occurred. As a result, the safety of many animals has been compromised.

The group immediately got to work, rescued the calf and brought the baby to a safe and dry place. Forest officials were seen walking around the calf protecting it. They also tied a rope around the baby, making sure it is not hurt in any way. The rope was also tied to make sure that the baby wouldn’t get accustomed to human scent or touch.
Currently, the team is also trying to find the herd to reunite the calf with the mother.
