Deepinder Goyal shared how he felt after receiving an overwhelming 8,000 emails from current and former employees in a now-viral post on X.
After inviting former team members to reapply, Deepinder Goyal, founder and Vice Chairman of Eternal (formerly Zomato) revealed that more than 8,000 emails poured in within a week that led him to offer a faster way to respond: “Find my number and WhatsApp me.”
In a detailed post on his official X account, Goyal wrote, “Over the last week, we received over 8,000 emails. About 4,000 from people who have been part of the Eternal journey at some point. Rest from people who haven’t worked here but want to. Thank you so much for this. I didn’t expect this at all.”
He added that most of the emails were filled with personal stories, honesty, and emotion, pointing out the depth of history behind several of them.
“Most of these emails are stories, and are full of emotions and honesty. There’s a lot of context and history in them,” he said, explaining that several messages referenced experiences from five, ten, or even fifteen years ago.
Goyal also pointed out that the current Eternal team did not have the context to fully understand these narratives, making it necessary for him to go through the messages personally.
“The only person who can truly read these emails and know who to respond to is me. And it is not humanly possible for me to read through 8,000 emails, and pick and choose the right ones to respond to, quickly.”

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
