FGG urges Telangana CM to expedite disposal of ACB and vigilance cases amid alarming delays in corruption investigations.
The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has written to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy flagging “abnormally low” disposal rate of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) cases, particularly in the Revenue Department, and seeking urgent steps to ensure time-bound action.
In a representation dated February 10, 2026, the FGG president M. Padmanabha Reddy said corruption in administration had increased significantly since the formation of Telangana, with little fear of punishment among erring officials due to prolonged delays in concluding cases. He alleged that trap cases and disproportionate assets cases registered by the ACB, as well as vigilance inquiries into maladministration, nepotism, dereliction of duty and decisions taken for personal gain, were kept pending for years in the Secretariat.
Citing information obtained under the Right to Information Act from the Additional Secretary, Revenue Department, the FGG said that of the 323 ACB cases received by the ACB, only five were disposed, while 318 cases remained under process, many of them registered before 2014. Similarly, of the 129 vigilance cases received, only eight were disposed, with 121 cases still pending, most of them more than a decade old.
Mr. Reddy said the forum had repeatedly brought the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary and senior officials in the past, but no concrete action followed. He warned that while ACB cases continued to be registered — creating an impression that corrupt officials would be punished — the reality reflected in official statistics showed otherwise.
The forum urged the Chief Minister to streamline procedures and ensure that all ACB and Vigilance cases are taken to their logical conclusion within two years of registration.
