Ferrari Purosangue teased: Prancing horse SUV will debut this year

After a long wait, the SUV from Maranello has broken cover, and the car will be performance focused in true Ferrari style.
Putting all the rumors to rest, Italian automaker Ferrari has officially teased the upcoming SUV, the Ferrari Purosangue. While the debate on whether the brand that has historically made two-door sports coupes should actually make an SUV is still ongoing. The teaser cements the rumors that the SUV will follow the Ferrari Roma in its design language. The Purosangue will pave the way for Ferrari to enter into a new era highlighting practicality and market demand.
Ferrari only revealed an image of the front, and based on this single image the Purosagne appears to have a low bonnet with a split headlamp design with a strip LED DRL. The lower end of the nose appears to feature massive air intakes and a closed off section with no visible grille. The silhouette of the car from the front does not appear to be very high, and inspires confidence that Ferrari has indeed focused on the performance and handling bit of the SUV.
Underpinning the Ferrari Purosangue will be the brand’s platform for all front-engined Grand Tourers like the Ferrari Roma and 812 GTS. The low bonnet also suggests that like the Grand Tourers, the SUV will also have a Front mid-engined approach to keep the weight in balance.
The platform allows for configurable powertrain options, like the Hybrid-V6 from the 296 GTB, the Hybrid-V8 from the SF90 Stradale or even the V12. The possibility of a non-electrified powertrain remains low, as Ferrari’s recent cars have been hybrid ones both to boost performance and help the emissions.
We await more details from Ferrari regarding the Purosangue, but the brand did confirm that the SUV will be launched or revealed later this year. Currently, Ferrari's greatest rival is the Lamborghini Urus, set to get a midlife update while others like Aston Martin DBX, Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes-AMG G 63 and others.
