A fatwa has been issued by Chief Mufti Maulana Ebrahim Hussain of the Muslim Personal Darul Ifta in Aligarh over the ongoing controversy surrounding a song from the film KD: The Devil. The cleric said in a statement that the alleged use of explicit and “real” visuals in the song, featuring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi, makes it objectionable under Islamic teachings. He termed such content haram and a gunah-e-kabira (grave sin), adding that participation in or promotion of such material goes against religious principles. The statement comes amid a growing row over the song’s allegedly obscene lyrics and visuals, which have drawn criticism from several quarters.
