Bread and butter issues take centrestage
The 13-month-long farmers’ agitation against the Narendra Modi government is not a talking point in this Punjab election. Having won the battle against the government’s attempt to corporatise agriculture, farmers now face a bigger fight against rising agricultural input costs.
The political parties born out of the agitation — Balbir Singh Rajewal’s Samyukta Samaj Morcha (SSM) and Gurnam Singh Charuni’s Samyukt Sangharsh Party (SSP) — are getting a tepid response.

The design team at The Indian Twist works on the spontaneous artworks by children and young adults from A Brush With Art (@abwa_chennai) and CanBridge Academy (thecanbridgeacademy), “kneading” them into its products, thereby transforming these artworks into a state of saleability. CanBridge Academy provides life skill training to young adults with autism. And ABWA promotes “expression of natural art in children with special needs”.
