Farhan Akhtar won Best Actor for his performance in Toofaan, while Rumy Jafry's Chehre got a Special Jury Mention at 12th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival.
Farhan Akhtar won his first award for his performance in Toofaan. The actor received the Best Actor award at the 12th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Chehre got Special Jury Mention. Suriya's Jai Bhim won the Best Film and Manikandan, who played the role of Rasakannu in the film, got the Best Supporting Actor award at the film festival.
The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) was founded with a mission to celebrate the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke. The official Twitter page of the film festival shared a video of Farhan Akhtar thanking the jury for honouring him for his performance in Toofaan. "Thank you to the jury of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival for this incredible honour that they have bestowed upon me for my performance in Toofaan," he said in the video.

Produced by Excel Entertainment in association with ROMP Pictures and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Toofaan's cast includes Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Supriya Pathak Kapur and Hussain Dalal alongside Farhan Akhtar and Mrunal Thakur. The film was set to hit the theatres on September 18, 2020. However, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the release got delayed and was directly released online on Amazon Prime Video.
