Extremists like Sharjeel Imam and Murtaza are dangerous for nation: BJP minister Giriraj Singh

Union minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh said that a growing population of Muslims does not pose a threat to India. However, 'fundamentalists' like Sharjeel Imam and Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi are dangerous for the country, he said.
According to BJP leader and Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh, radical thinking poses a major threat to the nation.
He said that people like Sharjeel Imam and Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi represent the kind of radical thinking that is dangerous for India.
Sharjeel Imam is a JNU student who was arrested for allegedly making inflammatory speeches during the protests against CAA and NRC in 2019.
Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi is the man who attacked security personnel deployed at the Gorakhnath temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur last week.
Giriraj Singh said, “There is more danger from radical thinking than from the growing population of Muslims inside the country. This radical thinking, whether in the form of Sharjeel Imam who talked about cutting off Assam from India or people like Murtaza who carry out terrorist attacks on temples in Gorakhpur, is dangerous.”
