Tremors were felt across Kolkata and nearby areas, with panicked residents and office workers rushing out of buildings.
Earthquake tremors were felt across Kolkata and its adjoining areas on Friday, triggering panic among residents and prompting many people to rush out of offices and buildings as a precautionary measure.
According to initial reports, the shaking lasted for a few seconds, with people in several parts of the city, including office complexes, reporting swaying furniture and vibrating structures.
Employees in multiple commercial hubs also quickly evacuated workplaces and gathered in open spaces amid uncertainty over the intensity of the tremor.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
