Officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) are conducting searches at the residences of former AIADMK Minister Sevur S. Ramachandran, who is also the sitting MLA for the Arani Assembly constituency, in Sevur village near Arani town in Tiruvannamalai district. DVAC sources said a 20-member team, led by R. Arul Prasad, Inspector, DVAC (Tiruvannamalai), is conducting the searches, which began at around 7.30 a.m. on Saturday (May 17, 2025). The sources said the searches were being carried out based on complaints that Mr. Ramachandran had amassed assets in excess of his income not only in Tamil Nadu but also other States, including Karnataka, when he served as HR&CE Minister.
Searches are also being conducted at the residences and places linked to Mr. Ramachandran’s two sons — R. Vijayakumar and R. Santoshkumar — in Tiruvannamalai and Vellore districts. Sources said that Mr. Vijayakumar was into real estate business whereas, Mr. Santhoshkumar runs educational institutions in the region.
