Yakshagana Kalaranga of Udupi handed over its 91st house built in the series of its free houses, to a beneficiary student of its Vidyaposhak Scheme at Japti in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district on Saturday.

The house built in memory of Pandeshwara Manjunatha Holla by his daughters, on behalf of the Kalaranga, was handed over to S. Nikhil, a first year pre-university student, who had scored 97.6 % marks in the SSLC examination.
Saraswati Holla, wife of Manjunatha Holla, inaugurated the house built at a cost of ₹7 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Geetha Samak, one of the five daughters of Manjunatha Holla, said that her father himself had built over 10 houses for the poor. He was helping many poor persons. Holla was also a progressive farmer, she said.
MLA for Kundapur Kiran Kumar Kodgi said that Kalaranga responded to the needs of poor students.
M. Gangadhar Rao and Murali Kadekar, president and secretary, respectively, of the Kalaranga were present, according to a release by the Kalaranga.
