The Department of Education has invited applications for last year's nursery class vacancies in private schools.
To fill up vacant seats in entry-level classes from the last academic session, the Delhi government has invited applications against these seats, as per the Directorate of Education(DoE). A senior DoE official informed, "Some private schools have claimed that they could not get admission under open seats as per their declared strength in entry level classes (Nursery, KG and Class 1 ) in 2021-22 academic session.”
“Applications are being invited for admission against these vacant seats in such private schools," he added.
The senior DoE official went on to add, "These remaining seats have been carried forwarded to higher classes and applications for admission are being invited accordingly.”
“The applicants will have to apply to the school directly latest by June 2," the official added further.
Last year, nursery admission to more than 17,00 schools for the year 2021-22 commenced in February, with a two-month delay from the usual schedule.
Previously, Delhi government officials had stated that a proposal to do away with nursery admissions was being considered because schools had been closed for several months due to Covid-19.
However, the school principals had opposed the idea, while the proposal was eventually scrapped and nursery admissions to the next academic session were held according to the timeline.
