Stress on water conservation
The Environment Club of GTN Arts College, Dindigul, celebrated World Water Day on March 24 with an awareness programme emphasising water conservation and sustainable management of freshwater resources. The event witnessed the participation of nearly 150 students. S. Arun, club coordinator, welcomed the gathering. College Director Durai presided over the function. P. Ravichandran, club director, delivered the keynote address on this year’s World Water Day theme. He stressed the need for sustainable water management and urged students to conserve water in their daily lives. He spoke on India’s groundwater depletion, water scarcity, rainfall patterns, and the impact of climate change on water resources.
Conference held
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Kalasalingam University, Srivilliputtur, collaborating with University of Cagliari, Italy and University of Technologies, Malaysia, conducted a two-day conference on ‘Sustainable Development in Advanced Materials, Manufacturing and Industry 4.0” (INSDAM 2025). As many as 180 research papers were received at the conference and 15 experts from across the world gave the keynote addresses. The chief guest was Seeram Ramakrishna from NUS, Singapore. The guests of honour were Giridhar Raju, Solid Pro Engg.Support,.Chennai and Flavio Stochino from the University of Cagliari. HoD M.Adam Khan proposed the vote of thanks .
Thirai Club’s conclave
The Thirai Club of Sri S. Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, Sattur, conducted ‘Naranapuram Alagiriswamy Jayaraman Annual Conclave’ on March 24. Film director and cinematographer Deepak, whose 2022 release Witness which received wide critical acclaim for its social concern, participated. In his interaction with the students, he expressed his concern over visual violence in films. Buhari Raja, YouTuber and documentary director, encouraged the students to collaborate with independent musicians to avoid copyright infringements while answering a question from a student. P. Rajaguru, Principal, played a pivotal role in organising the event.
