New Zealand were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs, with Jasprit Bumrah leading India's disciplined bowling effort with figures of 4 for 15.
India’s dominant win over New Zealand in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup final did not just light up the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad but also set off a witty exchange between police departments on social media.
It all started with the official account of the Delhi Police, which posted a tongue-in-cheek message, suggesting that Ahmedabad Police might receive complaints from New Zealand fans about balls going missing during the match.
“Dear @AhmedabadPolice. You may get ball disappearance complaints from Kiwi's. No need to take it seriously, it’s our batsmen sending them to the stands,” the Delhi Police wrote.
Ahmedabad Police responded in the same playful tone, saying: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The matter has been reported to the Higher Police officials.”
Soon after, the Uttar Pradesh Police joined the banter with its own mock case update, joking that the issue had escalated from missing balls to an entire batting line-up disappearing - a nod to the impressive spell by Jasprit Bumrah, who led India’s bowling effort.
New Zealand were bundled out for 159 in 19 overs while chasing India's 255 in the knockout clash, as Jasprit Bumrah led a disciplined bowling effort with figures of 4 for 15.
