A 35-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were found strangled and concealed inside a bed storage box at their Sarita Vihar residence in Delhi.
The bodies of a 35-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were found concealed inside a bed storage box at their residence in Delhi on Friday, police said.
According to officials, a call was received at Sarita Vihar police station around 10.30 pm on Friday reporting the discovery of two bodies at the house. Local police teams rushed to the spot.
On reaching the residence, police found the bodies of the middle-aged woman and the young girl hidden inside a bed storage compartment. Both were immediately shifted to AIIMS Hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
Senior officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, reached the crime scene soon after. Operation teams were deployed, and crime and forensic science laboratory teams processed the scene and collected vital clues.
Police identified the victims as Jyoti, 35, and her six-year-old daughter.
Initial medical examination did not reveal any external injuries. However, a post-mortem examination conducted on Saturday indicated that the cause of death was strangulation and smothering. The final post-mortem report is awaited.
