CDS Bipin Rawat chopper crash: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed Parliament over the Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper crash in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor. Here's what he said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed Parliament over the Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper crash in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor on Wednesday. He formally informed both the houses of Parliament -- Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha -- of the demise of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat in the crash. Of the 14 people on board, 13 people died when the Mi-17V5 helicopter crashed in Coonoor. Group Captain Varun Singh, who survived the crash, sustained 45 per cent burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.
Expressing grief over the sudden demise of CDS General Bipin Rawat and 12 others, Rajnath Singh paid homage to the deceased persons and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
