Deeply worried about Afghan women and girls: EU, US, other countries issue joint statement

Fearing the loss of civil rights for women and girls in Afghanistan under the Taliban, the EU members and 19 other nations, including the US, issued a joint statement expressing their concern.

The European Union, the United States (US) and 18 other countries issued a joint statement on Wednesday expressing their concern about the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan under the Taliban rule. "We are deeply worried about Afghan women and girls, their rights to education, work and freedom of movement. We call on those in positions of power and authority across Afghanistan to guarantee their protection," the statement said.
