The family of Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal, who was killed allegedly by her husband during a domestic dispute last week, has claimed that the accused was involved in a large-scale paper leak racket.
Fresh allegations have surfaced in the murder case of Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal, with her family claiming that her husband was the mastermind of a large-scale paper leak racket and that she may have known too many of his secrets.
Kajal, a resident of Haryana’s Sonipat district and posted with the Special Cell’s SWAT unit in Delhi, died after allegedly being brutally assaulted by her husband, Ankur, at her home on January 22. She was four months pregnant at the time and is survived by a one-and-a-half-year-old son.
Kajal’s family alleged that Ankur, along with a lab operator, had been running a paper leak racket, charging candidates lakhs of rupees. They claimed he had earned crores through the illegal operation. According to them, Kajal was aware of several of his activities, which may have led to tensions between the couple.
The family has also accused Ankur and his relatives of harassing Kajal for dowry since the early days of their marriage. Though the couple had a love marriage after knowing each other since college, Kajal’s mother said the family had stretched beyond their means during the wedding but the demands allegedly continued.
Kajal’s relatives recalled a disturbing sequence of phone calls shortly before her death. Her brother Nikhil, a Delhi Police constable, said Ankur called him that night and allegedly threatened to kill Kajal.
“He told me to record the call, saying it would be useful as police evidence, and claimed no one would be able to do anything to him,” Nikhil alleged. Minutes later, he said, another call came in during which Kajal could be heard screaming in the background, followed by Ankur saying she had died and asking them to come to the hospital.
