Jorge Jesus, the head coach of Al-Nassr, has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo's hamstring injury is more serious than initially expected, with the Portuguese star travelling to Madrid to undergo specialist treatment.
Cristiano Ronaldo has travelled to Madrid to undergo treatment after tests revealed that the hamstring injury he sustained last weekend is more serious than initially expected, according to Al Nassr manager Jorge Jesus.
The 41-year-old forward was substituted during Al-Nassr’s 3–1 victory over Al-Fayha last weekend after appearing to suffer discomfort in his right hamstring. Ronaldo had earlier missed a penalty in the match before being forced off, raising immediate concerns about his fitness.
Publicly available flight-tracking data later showed the Portugal captain’s private jet landing in Madrid overnight on Monday. The development fuelled speculation that he had travelled to Spain to seek specialist medical care.
Initial assessments suggested the forward could be sidelined for up to a month. However, further examinations have indicated that the injury may be more complicated than first feared.
Speaking at a press conference, Al-Nassr head coach Jorge Jesus confirmed that the latest medical tests had revealed a worrying development.
“After tests, we see the injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo was more serious than expected,” Jesus said.
