Covid cases rising in Delhi but 99% hospital beds vacant, says Lok Nayak Hospital MD

Medical Director of Lok Nayak Hospital, Dr Suresh Kumar, said that though the Covid cases are rising in Delhi but the rate of hospitalisation is low. He warned that if parents do not take Covid-19 vaccine, then children might be at risk.
Amid a rise in Covid-19 cases in Delhi, the Medical Director of Lok Nayak Hospital, Dr Suresh Kumar said that despite a spurt in Covid cases in the national capital, the hospital admissions are less and 99 per cent of the beds are empty.
He warned that if parents do not take Covid vaccine, then children might be at risk. He further added that several patients are admitted to LNJP hospital and a four-month child is on oxygen support.
"Covid cases are increasing in Delhi, but hospital admissions are less; 99% of Covid beds are empty. Seven patients are admitted to LNJP. A 4-month-old child is on oxygen support. If parents do not take vaccine, children might be at risk, "Kumar was quoted by ANI as saying.
Since children have not been vaccinated yet, the group below 12 years of age is at higher risk. Schools have been closed for almost 2 years, so it should not be closed anymore. Those who already have any disease, need admission only: Dr Suresh Kumar, MD LNJP Hospital
In the last 24 hours, the national capital saw a 60 per cent jump in the Covid cases from Wednesday and recorded 1,009 infections. The positivity rate in Delhi has gone up to 5.7 per cent and wearing of masks in public places has been made mandatory in view of the spurt in Covid cases.
