Coordination meeting held in Erode ahead of Bannari Mariamman Kundam festival

Erode officials coordinate preparations for the upcoming Bannari Mariamman Kundam festival, ensuring safety and amenities for devotees.
With the annual Kundam festival of Arulmigu Bannari Mariamman Temple in Sathyamangalam taluk scheduled to be held on March 30 and 31, District Revenue Officer S. Santha Kumar held a coordination meeting with officials from various departments at the Collectorate here on Monday.
In view of the large number of devotees expected to participate, the District Revenue Officer reviewed the preparatory arrangements with officials from departments including the police, fire and rescue services, transport, public health, medical services, municipal administration, rural development, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, food safety, electricity board, forest, public works, national highways and highways departments.
He instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply and maintain cleanliness on the temple premises by deploying sanitation workers. Steps should also be taken to regulate traffic and prevent congestion on Sathyamangalam–Mysuru Road and Bhavanisagar–Bannari Road, he said.
Temporary barricades should be installed to control the crowd and ensure safety. A medical team should remain on standby near the Kundam area when devotees participate in the ritual from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 31, he added.
Officials were also directed to arrange basic amenities, including toilets, keep fire and rescue vehicles ready, operate additional special buses for devotees, and ensure uninterrupted power supply during the festival. The revenue and police departments were asked to maintain law and order and ensure that all preparatory works are completed well in advance so that the festival is conducted smoothly.
Gobichettipalayam Sub-Collector S. Sivanandham, Assistant Conservator of Forests (Trainee) H.R. Nithin, Personal Assistant (General) to the Collector Thenmozhi, and officials from various departments took part in the meeting.
