Deputy CM criticizes previous government, announces new welfare schemes for tribals under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's leadership.
Slamming the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for its ‘anti-people policies’, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the previous government had gone to the extent of tying up tribal women farmers to trees and beating them.
He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will launch the ‘Indira Giri Solar Water Development Scheme’ on May 18 for the benefit of the tribals. “Additionally, special allocations of Indiramma houses will be made in tribal constituencies,” he added.
Addressing a public meeting held at Lakshmi Narasimhapuram village in Yellandu constituency in the district on Tuesday, after laying a foundation stone for a 33/11 KV sub-station, he stated that despite financial constraints, the government is implementing welfare schemes worth thousands of crores without placing any burden on the people. He emphasised that many more welfare initiatives are in the pipeline.
The previous government looted public wealth, and as a result, schemes like farm loan waivers, Rajiv Yuva Vikasam and Indiramma housing could not be implemented, he said, adding that the present government is planning to sanction additional Indiramma houses in tribal constituencies.
Referring to the previous government, Mr. Vikramarka said that during the Congress regime, tribal farmers were granted land rights under the Forest Rights Act. “But when they attempted to cultivate this land in the last ten years, they were brutally attacked — women were tied to trees and beaten,” he claimed.
To instil confidence in tribal farmers, the Congress-led Indiramma government is launching the Indira Solar Giri Water Development Scheme on May 18 at Chenchu Colony in Achampet, Nagarkurnool district, under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy. The project is estimated to cost ₹12,500 crore.
He explained that plans have been made in coordination with the horticulture department to ensure tribals earn income every three months.
