Sudipto Sen, best known for The Kerala Story, has unveiled the teaser for his next project, Charak: Fair of Faith -- and it’s anything but comforting. The chilling first glimpse sets the tone for a folklore thriller that probes the uneasy space between belief and blind devotion.

Slated for a theatrical release on March 6, 2026, the film is directed by Shieladitya Moulik and backed by Sipping Tea Cinemas in association with Sudipto Sen Productions. Within seconds, the teaser plunges viewers into a rural landscape preparing for the Charak mela -- a festival steeped in intense spiritual practices -- while quietly asking: how far is too far in the name of faith?

The story unfolds in a village gripped by anticipation on the eve of the Charak mela. For many residents, the festival represents their final hope for long-awaited wishes to come true.

But as rituals escalate, so does the tension. The teaser hints at sacrifice, desperation and an undercurrent of fear -- suggesting that devotion may come at a price. Rather than offering easy answers, the film appears determined to explore the psychological toll of unquestioned belief.

The ensemble cast includes Anjali Patil, Sahidur Rahaman, Subrat Dutta, Shashi Bhushan, Nalneesh Neel, Shankhadeep and Shounak Shyamal. Their characters are positioned within a tightly knit community navigating tradition, doubt and pressure from collective expectations.

The project is presented by PEN Studios, with producer Jayantilal Gada backing the venture.
