Chandigarh: Five-day-old baby dies at GMSH-16; family alleges medical negligence

After a five-day-old baby died at the Government Multi Speciality Hospital (GMSH) in Chandigarh, the family alleged that no doctor was available to treat the sick child.
The family of a five-day-old infant has accused Government Multi Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, of medical negligence after the infant died on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. An inquiry has been ordered after the family members alleged that no doctor was available at GMSH-16 to treat the sick child.
A report published in the Hindustan Times (HT) states that a woman, who is a resident of Sector 23, Chandigarh, got admitted to hospital a week ago and on November 14, she gave birth to two twins- a boy and a girl. The kids were underweight and were admitted to the postnatal ward of the hospital.
