A speeding Mahindra Thar allegedly driven by a teenager crashed into a car in Goa, killing a 65-year-old man. Locals claimed that after the accident, he switched seats to shield a woman, whom they alleged was driving at the time.
Goa Police have filed a case against a 19-year-old man from Delhi after investigators identified him as the driver of a speeding Mahindra Thar that rammed into a car, killing a 65-year-old man earlier this week.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Apoorv Goyal, a resident of Delhi's Hauz Khas, was driving the rented vehicle in a “rash and negligent manner without proper care and caution, endangering human life.”
Police said he lost control of the SUV near the accident spot and crashed into a Hyundai i20, resulting in the death of one of its occupants.
The accident took place on Monday at a North Goa location. The victim, Bhagat Ram Sharma from Bhopal, died on the spot. Two other passengers in the car sustained minor injuries, while a five-month-old infant travelling with them escaped unhurt.
Impact of the collision was severe, leaving the front portion of the Hyundai i20 completely mangled and crushed.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the red-coloured rental Thar, carrying four occupants -- one man and three women -- was speeding and approaching from the opposite direction when the crash occurred.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
