Small eateries in Bengaluru can sustain for a week amid LPG shortage, while larger establishments struggle with closures.
Several eateries in the city, which witness high footfall on a daily basis, remained shut on Friday amid the LPG shortage linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Meanwhile, smaller eateries were managing and owners said they have no tension for at least a week.
Many ‘darshinis’ in Jayanagar, Koramangala and Adugodi in the southern part of the city were seen locked. Several well-known eateries in East Bengaluru were also found shut.
“We need around six to seven cylinders every day. We didn’t find it worrisome till yesterday, but now we are being careful about usage,” said the caretaker of Sri Krishna Sagar restaurant on 6th Cross Road near Koramangala.
On the other hand, the owners of ‘Bengal’ ooru Ruchi Mane, a small eatery in Ejipura, said their menu has very few items and that they have no tension for the next seven days. “We cook thrice a day and serve those dishes which don’t require much gas. We also bought two cylinders three days ago, which will be enough for us,” they said.
Similarly, many other small eateries said they have no problem for a week. Some even reported seeing more customers on Thursday.
