BWSSB receives BIS certification for efficient, safe, and sustainable piped drinking water supply management system in Bangalore.
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has become the first water board in India to receive certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for its piped drinking water supply management system.
The certification follows a rigorous six-month evaluation by BIS, which praised the city’s adherence to international water quality standards. BWSSB successfully met stringent criteria for efficient, safe, and sustainable water management practices, a statement from the Board said.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who also oversees Bangalore Urban Development, hailed the achievement, stating, “Providing clean and safe drinking water to the city’s residents has always been our top priority. This certification reinforces the city’s commitment to urban sustainability.”
BWSSB Chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar said the BIS certification covers all aspects of water supply, from intake and treatment to distribution and quality assurance.
