A screenshot of a Whatsapp conversation between a senior and his subordinate at work has become a point of discussion on social media. For the right reasons or not, you decide. A Reddit user recently shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with his boss and it is going crazy viral on social media.
The screenshot shared on Reddit shows that the user, named Shreyas, responded to his boss’ message on Whatsapp with a “hey” and this did not go down quite well with him. He retorted to Shreyas’s text saying it was “offensive”.
Shreyas’s boss deemed his response unprofessional when he was asked whether he had submitted the test. “Hey. No, not yet,” was his response.
“Hi Shreyas, my name is Sandeep,” the boss replied. “Please don’t use the word ‘hey.’ It’s offensive for me. If you can’t remember my name, simply use ‘Hi,'” came the response from his senior.
He also added that words like “dude”, “man”, “chap” and “chick” should never be used in a professional setting. “Other words you should never use professionally: "Dude", "man”, only "hello", "Hi there" if you are not targeting a wide audience for in a mail, to senior to you "chap", "chick," he added.
Shreyas defended himself saying, "Well, considering that we are having a conversation over WhatsApp and not over LinkedIn or a mail chain. I’m just being casual as you are texting me on my personal number. And coming to being professional, I’m not the one being offended."
