Border 2 box office Day 6: Sunny Deol's war drama sees a drop on first Wednesday

Border 2 earned approximately Rs 13 crore on its sixth day at the Indian box office, marking a slowdown after a robust opening weekend. The Hindi-language war drama saw a dip in occupancy rates, with night shows registering the highest attendance.

After a powerful start at the box office during its opening weekend, Border 2 began showing signs of slowing down on its sixth day of release. The film, which opened to enthusiastic audiences and robust earnings, registered a noticeable dip in box office collections on day 6.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Sunny Deol-starrer earned an estimated Rs 13 crore nett across all languages in India on Wednesday, January 28.

The film's sixth day saw an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 16.78% across theatres nationwide, with varying turnout throughout the day. Morning shows accounted for a 7.52% occupancy rate, while figures rose progressively through the afternoon at 17.27%, evening at 19.82%, and peaked during the night shows at 22.50%. This downward trend contrasts with the higher numbers recorded over the festive weekend.

Directed by Anurag Singh and jointly produced by T-Series and J.P. Films, Border 2 features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Mona Singh in pivotal roles. The film is a spiritual successor to the 1997 war drama Border and is inspired by the events of the 1971 India-Pakistan conflict.

The opening weekend figures for Border 2 were impressive, with consecutive daily increases in collections: Rs 32.10 crore on Friday, Rs 40.59 crore on Saturday, Rs 57.20 crore on Sunday, and Rs 63.59 crore on Monday. However, the earnings started to taper off by Tuesday and Wednesday, indicating a cooling of audience momentum after the initial surge.

Compared to other recent Republic Day releases, Border 2 held a commanding lead in box office performance. The film outpaced titles like Fighter and Sky Force, which collected Rs 39.5 crore and Rs 31.60 crore respectively during their corresponding holiday periods. This trend highlights the appeal of war dramas during national holidays and the continued drawing power of the franchise.
