BMC rejects Narayan Rane’s regularisation proposal for Juhu bungalow

The BMC has rejected Union Minister Narayan Rane’s regularisation proposal for his eight-storey bungalow Juhu, Mumbai.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rejected Union Minister Narayan Rane’s regularisation proposal for his eight-storey bungalow in the city's Juhu area.
While rejecting the request, the BMC said that the structure is against Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) norms. The bungalow’s height is 32 metres, in stark breach of regulations that specify a maximum height of 11.75 metres.
The civic body also stated that Rane has not submitted the full layout of the structure in his application, and as a result the regularisation request cannot be approved.
The BMC has previously sent two notices to Rane over the alleged unauthorised construction and alterations to his bungalow, Aadesh. The first notice stated that several changes of use in the basement of the bungalow and on all but the seventh floor of the bungalow have taken place.
The second notice said that illegal rooms have been constructed from the first to the eighth floor instead of terrace gardens, which is in contravention to the plan approved by the civic body.
On March 21, the BMC issued a demolition order after Rane refused to remove the unauthorised construction in the bungalow of his volition. The Union minister challenged the order in the Bombay High Court, after which the civic body withdrew it.
