India Today
The BJP has won the Bhola-1 (Sadar) constituency in the Barisal division in Bangladesh. Since the headline has got you hooked to the story, read on to find out how.
Yes, we are not lying. The BJP has definitely won a seat in the Bangladesh elections. But, before you can say 'BJP hai toh mumkin hai', there is a small catch. This isn't Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP, but the Bangladesh Jatiya Party, which shares the same acronym as the ruling party in India. The confusion also prevailed on social media, with some mistaking the lesser-known Bangladeshi party as India's BJP.
Now, since the headline has got you hooked to the story, here's a brief story about Bangladesh's BJP, which is an ally of Tarique Rahman's BNP. The BNP swept the elections on Friday, securing 209 seats, returning to power in Bangladesh after two decades. Tarique is expected to be the next prime minister.
The BJP and other allies of the BNP bagged 4 seats, taking the total tally to 212. The BJP managed to win one seat -- the Bhola-1 (Sadar) constituency in the Barisal division. The party's chief, Andaleeve Rahman Partho, a lawyer, won the seat for a second time by a margin of nearly 30,000 votes. He defeated the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Nazrul Islam.
According to official results, Partho secured 1,05,543 votes while the Jamaat candidate bagged 75,337 votes.
Partho, born on April 20, 1974, is among the young faces of Bangladesh's politics who rose to prominence in 2008 after winning the Bhola-1 seat for the first time. He was then Bangladesh's youngest opposition leader and MP.
His father, Naziur Rahaman Manzur, was a freedom fighter who played a prominent role during the 1971 Liberation War. Later, he served as a minister and was also the mayor of Dhaka. He founded the Bangladesh Jatiya Party in 2001 after splitting from the Jatiya Party.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
