To mark the success of Operation Sindoor and express solidarity with the Indian armed forces, the BJP in Karnataka will organise a Tiranga Yatra across the State, without featuring any party symbols. It will be held on May 15 here and other major cities subsequently.
Announcing this at a press conference on Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, R. Ashok said people from all sections of society were welcome to participate in the yatra.
In Bengaluru, the yatra would start from Shirur Park to 18th Cross on Sampige Road in Malleswaram, with over 5,000 people expected to participate. “There will be no party flags — only the national flag — and everyone is welcome. It is the duty of every Indian to stand with our soldier,” Mr. Ashok said.
“While the yatra will be held in district centres on May 16 and May 17, it will be held from May 18 to May 23 in taluk centres. The Indian Army has shown what happens when the sindoor of Indian women is touched. Over 100 terrorists have been killed, training camps destroyed, and Pakistan has been brought to the point of pleading to stop the war,” he said.
Stating that Congress leaders should avoid “divisive rhetoric” on the announcement of ceasefire, Mr. Ashok said, “They talk of peace before a war but question why the war was stopped after the ceasefire.”
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has consistently opposed war. The Congress tweeted about peace. However, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda is making contradictory statements. Whatever we say, the Indian Army’s officers make the decisions. The ceasefire was also their decision. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clarified there was no third party mediation on the ceasefire, and India will not accept any mediation,” he said.
Stating that the Prime Minister had already given a clear message on reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and on the Indus Waters Treaty, he said at this juncture, the Congress should support the soldiers instead of playing politics.
