BJP opens backchannel talks to bring Vijay's TVK into NDA fold
India Today
Sources say the BJP is using multiple channels to bring actor-politician Vijay and his party TVK into the NDA fold, hoping even a small share of his fan vote could influence electoral outcomes in Tamil Nadu.
A fresh political churn is brewing in Tamil Nadu with the BJP making a concerted push to bring actor-politician Vijay and his party under the NDA umbrella, according to sources familiar with the developments.
The move, if it materialises, could alter electoral calculations in the state, where even small shifts in vote share often decide tightly contested constituencies.
Sources said the BJP has been using multiple channels to open a line of communication with Vijay, whose political outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has rapidly drawn attention after his entry into active politics.
According to sources in Tamil Nadu politics, the BJP has reached out through several intermediaries in an attempt to persuade Vijay to align with the NDA.
One of the key channels being explored includes the involvement of a deputy chief minister from another state who is believed to be acting as a negotiator in the outreach effort.
The conversations are understood to be exploratory at this stage, with discussions centred on possible political cooperation and the electoral advantages such an alliance could bring.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
