22 students, five teachers, and a parent learn to cycle as part of SheCycling’s initiative; next phase from March 5
Twenty-two students, five teachers, and one parent have been trained in cycling in five days as part of SheCycling’s ‘Bicycle Literacy Campaign’ at Government College for Women, Vazhuthacaud.
The campaign aims at achieving 100% bicycle literacy among students and teachers in 2026.
With the declaration, the college will become the first higher education institution in Kerala to formally commit to 100% bicycle literacy among both students and faculty members., the organisers said.
Since more people have evinced interest in learning to ride bicycles, the next phase of the campaign will begin at the college on March 5.
On March 8, International Women’s Day, a rally including all those who have learnt how to ride as part of the Bicycle Literacy Campaign will be held from the college to Thycaud and back.
Since the goal is to teach cycling to all students in all departments of the college, more training phases will likely be needed, the organisers said.
