Bengaluru techie creates app to track pink blossom trees across the city

A Bengaluru techie has developed an app mapping the city's 27,000 pink Tabebuia blossom trees. The project combined technology and nature, inspiring locals to explore seasonal blooms creatively.
A techie built an application called Bengaluru Bloom to map the city’s iconic pink Tabebuia blooms in great detail, and the internet is absolutely loving it.
What began as a personal hobby of photographing Bengaluru’s seasonal pink flower trees turned into a full-fledged mapping project. The brains behind the app, Malavika, shared her invention in a now-viral post on X.
In the caption, she explained that as a big fan of the city’s pink blooms, she would click pictures of the trees whenever she spotted them. That curiosity soon led her to do some research and plot them on a map.
“There are around 27k Tabebuia rosea trees in Bangalore currently,” she wrote, revealing the scale of the floral footprint across the city.
She also shared a visual map dotted densely with pink markers, representing the locations of tabebuia rosea trees across Bengaluru. The concentration appears especially thick in certain neighbourhoods, transforming the city’s layout into what looks like a blossom-filled canvas.
Tabebuia rosea, often referred to as the “pink trumpet tree,” briefly transforms parts of Bengaluru into pastel corridors each year before the petals fall and carpet the streets below.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.

When we look at Iran through the prism of religion and see a Shia Islamic country, we negate its thousands of years of rich pre-Islamic Persian culture. A dive into the world of Zoroastrianism and Vedas shows us how Indians and Iranians have been sharing languages, Gods, sciences and a sacred fire for thousands of years.
