Axar Patel's fielding vs England like Kapil Dev in 1983 World Cup final: Srikkanth

T20 World Cup: Kris Srikkanth claimed that Axar Patel's catch to dismiss Harry Brook reminded him of the superhuman effort that Kapil Dev produced in the 1983 World Cup final to dismiss Viv Richards.
Kris Srikkanth found himself being transported back to the 1983 World Cup final after seeing Axar Patel's fielding efforts in the India vs England semi-final in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. Srikkanth drew parallels between Axar's catch to dismiss Harry Brook and the one Kapil Dev took to dismiss Vivian Richards in the 83 final.

Axar was sensational on the field as he took two catches and then also played a major role in the dismissal of Will Jacks. For the Brook catch, the Indian vice-captain covered almost 24 metres while running backwards, before putting in a dive to seal the catch and send the England captain back to the pavilion.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth pointed out how Axar kept his eyes on the ball throughout and made sure it never got away from him.
"This is a different-level catch. That too on Bumrah’s first ball. Brook hit it somewhere and the ball kept going. Running back almost 20 yards, diving, and he was just watching the ball the whole time. He didn’t leave it. If you lose sight of it, then diving backwards becomes even more difficult. Don’t forget that. It’s not very, very easy."
"This reminded me of Kapil Dev taking that catch to dismiss Viv Richards. Here Axar hit the dive and got it. It was a superb catch. This catch by Axar — it was a superb catch," said Srikkanth.
