The erosion caused by the Brahmaputra river has left villagers in Assam's Dhubri and South Salmara Mankachar districts homeless as it has wiped out their homes and farm lands in the last five years.
A 48-year-old man and his family from a village in Assam's Dhubri district are preparing to move to a safer place after his house and agricultural land were destroyed due to soil erosion caused by the swollen Brahmaputra river. Nausat Ali, a resident of Matifata village in Dhubri district, said, “I have lost everything due to soil erosion and I don’t know where to go now. I have no money in my pocket. I think we will have to temporarily live on the road.”More Related News
