The UN headquarters was cordoned off on Thursday after a man was seen pacing outside one of its gate with what appeared to be a gun.
The United Nations headquarters in New York City was locked down for several hours Thursday after a man was seen pacing outside one of its main gates with what police said appeared to be a shotgun.
The man, who appeared to be in his 60s, was taken into custody without incident at around 1:30 pm, about three hours after police said he was first spotted outside a security checkpoint on Manhattan's First Avenue.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
