Akshay Kumar says sorry after getting trolled for endorsing tobacco brand. Twitter reacts with memes

On April 21, Akshay Kumar issued a statement declaring that he was withdrawing himself from the tobacco brand.

Akshay Kumar has stepped back from being the brand ambassador of a tobacco brand after finding himself at the receiving end of criticism. Akshay had joined the brand and was seen in an ad which also stars Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan. However, the public response towards Akshay’s involvement with a tobacco brand wasn’t nice at all.

Fans were disappointed and netizens started trolling the actor for starring in an ad for a product that is harmful to health. On April 21, Akshay Kumar issued a statement declaring that he was withdrawing himself from the brand. He also apologized to his fans and promised that the fee obtained from the endorsement would be contributed to a worthy cause.

However, the meme wagon initiated by netizens refused to stop and the micro-blogging site was again flooded with memes. While some shared their disappointment and wrote how contradictory Akshay’s statement read, others simply made fun of his withdrawal from the brand.
