The posters, spotted outside Amethi railway station and at key intersections, carry the slogan with a photo of Akhilesh Yadav, “Aap ko kya chahiye? Akhilesh ka Lyari raj.” (What do you want? The Lyari rule of Akhilesh). Another slogan says “Dhurandhar CM” with a photo of Yogi Adityanath.
The reference was to Lyari, a neighbourhood in Pakistan's Karachi, once notorious for gang wars and violence, which was mentioned in Dhurandhar.
Put up by a group calling itself “Youth Against Mafia,” the hoardings juxtapose incidents of riots and violence during Akhilesh Yadav’s tenure as Chief Minister with the current government’s crackdown on crime under Yogi Adityanath.
Abhinav Tiwari, the group’s general secretary, said the campaign aims to raise awareness among Gen Z about past law-and-order situations in Uttar Pradesh.
"Through this poster, we want to create awareness among Gen Z about the past law and order situations in Uttar Pradesh, like the Muzaffarnagar and Shamli riots with the current scenario. We are a students' organisation and don't have any links with any other party," he told news agency ANI.
