While investigating the case, police found out the names of the accused and arrested them by conducting raids.
An auto driver was harassed and his body thrown into a pond after he resisted a sexual assault bid. The incident first came to light when the auto driver's brother filed a missing person complaint on February 17, saying he had not returned for three days.
Meanwhile, police recovered a body from a pond in the locality. The family identified the body and raised suspicion of murder. Police formed four investigation teams to probe the case. Officers examined CCTV footage, analysed call detail records and conducted local inquiries to trace the suspects.
During the investigation, the names of the two suspects surfaced. Based on the leads, police conducted raids and arrested the suspects.
According to DCP West Aditya Kumar, the accused, identified as Vishnu and Amit, confessed their involvement in the crime during the interrogation.
On the evening of February 14, the two accused took an auto and during the ride, they consumed alcohol and allegedly forced the driver to drink as well. Later, they attempted to sexually assault him, police added.
When the victim resisted, an argument broke out that soon turned violent, following which the accused allegedly assaulted him and pushed him into a nearby pond, where he drowned.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
