After Bhuj, Laxmii, Family Man, Sharad Kelkar is ready for a solo film: Interview

Sharad Kelkar is always the actor that stands out in a star-driven cast. Riding on the success of Bhuj The Pride Of India, The Family Man and Laxmii before that, he feels he is ready to shoulder a film by himself now.

Sharad Kelkar has been a part of some of the biggest star-driven releases in the past year. Think Akshay Kumar's Laxmii, Manoj Bajpayee's The Family Man or the recently released Ajay Devgn-starrer Bhuj: The Pride Of India. But Sharad has always been the actor, never the star, even as social media praised him for his impactful performances in roles with limited screen time. He, however, hopes all that is about to change, and his time is right. "The way people took to Twitter to congratulate me on my role in Laxmii was overwhelming," Sharad starts off. And this despite the fact that his role was kept under wraps until the very release. "A very smart move by Akshay sir and the team. It was because of that that the impact was that massive," he says. "Now perhaps the audience is ready, and people can see that I can shoulder a film by myself." When asked how he preps for a character, Sharad says, "It is important to read the material, internalise and prepare oneself before one can go on sets. That's how I do it. There shouldn't be a spec of doubt in your mind when you are on set."
