Adobe Photoshop beta app available for download on Google Play for mobile creators

With Adobe Photoshop’s beta app hitting the Google app store, users can edit photos and access Firefly-powered Generative Fill.

Adobe announced that the beta version of its Photoshop app was coming to the Google Play Store, meaning that Android device owners can now make complex photo fixes and Generative AI-powered edits right on their phone screen.

While the app can be downloaded for free, not all features are available yet, while some are behind a paywall.

Adobe Photoshop users accessing the app can still carry out a range of activities such as combining and blending images with the use of layers and marks, removing or replacing parts of images, retouching blemishes or unwanted objects, using Firefly-powered Generative AI features to expand images or change their very contents, using Adobe Stock assets, and more.

While Photoshop for iPhones is already available, users can download the Adobe Photoshop beta app on Google Play if their devices run on Android 11 or later, with a minimum of 6GB of RAM. However, 8GB or more is recommended, per the company.

“The all-new Android app includes Photoshop’s iconic image editing and design capabilities, including tools such as layering, masking and the popular, Firefly-powered Generative Fill. Photoshop mobile makes it easy to create wherever inspiration strikes, from designing cover art, to a video thumbnail, a vision board, or capturing an idea on the go,” noted Adobe in its blog post.

“The mobile app makes it fast and easy for the next generation of creators to get started with Photoshop. The app provides flexibility for experienced professionals, empowering desktop creators to access work, make quick edits or capture creative ideas anywhere.”
