
7,294 candidates appear for NEET-UG exam in Tiruchi

NEET exam in Tiruchi sees 97% attendance with 7,294 candidates appearing; some find Physics challenging.
As many as 7,294 candidates in Tiruchi took the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency on Sunday.
The exam, which is conducted as an eligibility test to secure admission to undergraduate medical and dental programmes, was attended by 7,294 candidates out of 7,519 who were enrolled for the test, which is about 97 per cent. There were 225 absentees for the examination held at 15 centres across the district.
According to official sources, around 220 Class XII students of government and aided schools in Tiruchi district who took up the free NEET coaching programme appeared for the test. The coaching was conducted at five centres in the district, where the students were trained throughout the year.
There were 200 questions, of which students had to attempt 180 for a total of 750 marks. A section of candidates found the Physics part challenging, and Chemistry and Biology moderate.
Candidates were asked to assemble by 1. 30 p.m. for the test, which began at 2 p.m. and ended at 5 p.m. Staff were deployed at the entry points for frisking students, verifying documents, scanning and guiding them to the stipulated examination halls.

After mandating pet dog licensing and microchipping, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) bids to do the same for cattle to curb stray cattle issues and man-animal conflicts in the streets. The civic body has moved to make it compulsory for cattle owners to obtain licenses for their animals across all zones.
