While Blake Lively and Alicia Keys’s Met Gala dresses were their odes to New York, Kylie Jenner paid tribute to late designer Virgil Abloh with her billowing gown.

This week witnessed fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala, in its full glory. An array of celebrities attended the event and walked the red carpet in exquisite ensembles. This year, the Met Gala theme was In America: An Anthology of Fashion and the dress code was Gilded Glamour. As is the norm, celebrities displayed their interpretation of the theme with their intriguing sartorial picks. Some of them, interestingly, were actually tributes to the people they admired or America's architectural splendors like the Statue of Liberty.

BLAKE LIVELY

Blake Lively put forth one of the most talked-about Met Gala looks this year. She arrived wearing a bronze-hued custom Versace gown which was unfurled and transformed into a vivid blue ensemble with a floor-sweeping train. Dramatic is an understatement for Blake Lively’s transforming dress.

The awe-inspiring dress, let us tell you, was Blake Lively’s ode to New York City and its various landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. The dress-reveal, Lively said, was an ode to the greenish patina that bronze buildings develop over time.

KYLIE JENNER

Kylie Jenner attended the Met Gala 2022 in a billowing white gown by the label Off-White. The voluminous ensemble featured ruffle details and was styled with a baseball cap and a mini sheer veil. Kylie’s Met Gala look, however, was a tribute to the late designer Virgil Abloh who passed away in November 2021.
