2 Wow! Momo staff arrested, sent to police custody after deadly warehouse fire
Police on Friday arrested two employees of Wow! Momo in connection with a devastating warehouse fire near Kolkata and sent them to six days of police custody.
The arrests came as the death toll from the blaze climbed to 21, after authorities recovered 13 more bodies from gutted buildings. Police said 28 people remain missing, raising fears that the number of fatalities could rise further.
The massive fire broke out around 3 am on January 26 in the Anandapur area of South 24 Parganas district, close to Kolkata. The blaze reduced two godowns and a manufacturing unit of a momo company to ashes.
Charred buildings and the bodies of workers trapped inside were found at the site, highlighting the scale of destruction caused by the fire.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
