Harmanpreet Kaur played under Mithali Raj for a number of years. Mithali led the ODI and Test teams, while Harmanpreet was given the reign of the T20I team.
India T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur on Wednesday revealed that when she started her career the only name she heard was Mithali Raj.
Although Harmanpreet made her ODI and T20I debut under Jhulan Goswami, Mithali was a big name in the dressing room and she symbolised women's cricket in India.
"Cricket is a dream and when I started off my career I had no idea that women’s cricket existed but the only name ever told or heard was yours Mithali Di," Harmanpreet said.
"You sewed the seed for all the young girls to take up this sport and dream big. Wish you the best in life."
